  1. A very soulful (of course) record, with phenomenally warm sax work on the part of Webster, backed up by the Oscar Peterson Trio. The whole record is lovely, and great late-night listening. The first two cuts, "Soulville" and "Late Date" are the most interesting: bluesy original numbers that stand out.
    Thanks!

  2. This is one of my favorite albums; I love Ben Webster’s sound and breath control. How could anyone not love jazz? As you so rightly say, the first two tracks are must-listens… featuring Oscar Peterson’s trio. I know you’re very familiar with these albums. I’ll move on to 1957, 1958 after…
    Thanks for your comment, Doc!
